CONICAL RINGS

Conical Rings are specifically engineered for long-staple and worsted spinning where a flat flanged ring is unsuitable. In long-staple spinning — wool, worsted, semi-worsted, and acrylic in worsted configurations — the fibre bundle is thicker, the twist level is lower, and the traveller geometry demands a conical race profile to ensure smooth, low-vibration running.

The conical/concave running path allows the J-traveller to run at a favourable contact angle, reducing heat generation and extending traveller life. Worsted ring frames typically operate at 8,000–15,000 RPM — significantly lower than short-staple speeds — which is the primary reason conical rings deliver outstanding ring life of 10–20+ years in practice.

RGPL's Conical Rings are manufactured from imported 100Cr6 high-carbon high-chrome seamless steel, CNC-machined to the same precision standards as our short-staple range. They are available in two standard heights — 9.1 mm and 11.1 mm — with inside diameters from 45 mm to 65 mm. Compatible frames include Cognetex-Finlane, Zinser-Oerlikon Schlaforst, Edera, and other worsted frame configurations. Custom dimensions for other machine gauges available upon request.
